On these programs you have the choice to learn how to sew your own traditional gaurments, you can choose to sew a Khurem, Khantaaz or even go all out and sew yourself a traditional Deel with nomadic women. This program gives you a chance to sew your own deel under the instruction of nomadic women. In winter Mongolians wears sheep skin deels as they are very warm and cozy, in spring and autumn padded deels, and in summer time summer light deels.
Day One - Visit to Ms. Amarjargal: Our local guide will receive you at last bus stop of Terelj national park. Then you will go by ox cart to his home where 10kms north of Terelj river. Once you arrive at her home she will serve you tea and dinner. You will overnight his home.
Day Two - Learn how to sew traditional Khantaaz: After breakfast, you will choose a material for the khantaaz from 2-3 types of fabrics with the hostess and cut the general figure of the khantaaz. Then you will stick “tsawga” (tsawga is sticked at the back of lace to make it harder) and prepare its lace cutting with scissors. After tea break, you will make lace for the khantaaz on which tsawga has been stuck. Afterwards you will go on foot to bring pasturing calves to their fence and have dinner with the family. Then free time & rest.
Day Three - Learn how to sew traditional Khantaaz: You will have pancake and milk tea for breakfast. Then you will stick “khoshmog” (Khoshmog is narrow ornamental strip which is used to make Ulzii, a decoration of khantaaz) and lunch will be followed. In the afternoon you will see how to make dairy products and you will have a chance to make dairy products together. After you learn how to prepare Mongolian dairy products, you will have dinner and play “shagai” that is a traditional game of Mongolia.
Day Four - Learn how to sew traditional Khantaaz: You will have tea with rice for your breakfast and then you will make Ulzii by the khoshmog. After lunch, you will complete sticking ulzii and you will have free time and take a rest.
Day Five - Learn how to sew traditional Khantaaz: Following breakfast you will sew Ulzii which you prepared the day before on the khantaaz with lace. After lunch you will sew and attach the inside of the khantaaz to the outside. Then you will have dinner with the family members and take a rest.
Day Six - Learn how to sew traditional Khantaaz: After breakfast you will sew buttons and strips on the khantaaz. After lunch, you will continue it. Then you will have dinner with family members.
Day Seven - Departure : After breakfast you will have time to relax and go sightseeing. After having lunch, you will go by oxcart to Terelj. On the way, you will see Shamanism`s Tree. Then get on bus to UB.
