The Mongolian Alternatives Center’s mission is to strengthen the economic, social, and environmental future of Mongolia by improving the quality and availability of information in Mongolia, and by using that information in results-oriented programs of training, technical assistance, and policy reform.
APPROACH AND STRATEGY
The Mongolian Alternatives Center (MAC) formulates alternatives for development in Mongolia using high-quality data gathering and analysis, and delivers actionable program designs, technical assistance, training, and policy recommendations to its clients and beneficiaries. MAC ensures that its deliverables meet the highest international standards by using an experienced international management team to structure its approaches, provide technical and management advice to project teams, and to conduct quality control on data gathering, analysis, technical assistance, and training activities.
WHY MONGOLIAN ALTERNATIVES CENTER IS DIFFERENT
The principal associates of The Mongolian Alternatives Center share a common belief that the development prospects of Mongolia could be significantly improved if:
1) Donors or projects had a reliable source of services with both technical and management experience that could effectively deliver technical assistance and training to their beneficiaries;
2) Businesses and industries had a professional organization they could rely on to help them better understand and reach their target markets, improve their links with suppliers and producers, and make informed product development and marketing decisions;
3) Market-oriented principles and best practices could be used to leverage the strengths, skills, and cultural heritage of Mongolians to generate alternatives for development that are practical, well-informed, and based on realistic approaches adapted to Mongolian conditions.
The principal associates of MAC have committed to building an NGO that would serve these purposes while valuing innovation, creativity, integrity, and transparency. MAC intends to be the leading NGO to offer donors, businesses, industry organizations, and projects an opportunity to source work products that are well planned, concisely communicated to the client, appropriately staffed, and delivered on time. These same products will have clear and detailed budgets, technical approaches, and implementation plans, and results will be well-documented.
The Mongolian Alternatives Center has the capability to operate at many levels reaching from rural activities to international policy, extensive experience in working at the “grassroots” of development, and the ability to deliver interactive, participatory training.
The Mongolian Alternatives Center’s principal advisors have over 50 combined years of business, development, and consulting experience, and have lived and traveled extensively in Mongolia. MAC is able to deliver a complete package of products and services that meets the needs of operational decision-makers, accompanied by “hands-on” management by a dedicated joint Mongolian and international management team.
