Terelj National Park
Winter Calander for October: Winter Preperation with Nomadic Families
On this nomadic winter adventure you will experience and learn how to prepare a nomadic camp for winter. You will visit nomadic families in the region and have the opportunity to travel with a nomadic guide and enjoy beautiful winter scenery of Terelj National Park by horse and hot water bottle heated ox cart with warm blankets.

Payments
Pre-Departure Booking and Travel Orientation Fee: $25
Community Fee for 6 Days/ 5 Nights: $233 per person
Public bus to Terelj village: $1.50
Optional jeep hire to first Ger and pickup (per car, two way): $100
Note: Jeep hire can be divided among number of persons traveling together |
| Day 1 |
Travel to your first nomadic family: Our local guide will receive you at last bus stop of Terelj Protected Area. Then you will travel by ox cart and/or horses to his home, 7 kilometers south north of Terelj River. Once you arrive at Mr. Chuka’s nomadic home (a ger), he will serve lunch and hot milk tea. After lunch, you will participate in the warming of the livestock’s winter fence with dry dung to ensure that they stay healthy throughout the cold winter. Then he will serve you dinner and hot milk tea and you overnight at his Ger with his family.

| Day 2 |
Collect fallen wood with Mrs. Amarjargal along the scenic frozen river: After your breakfast Mr.Chuka will guide you to next ger, Ms Amarjargal’s Ger by ox cart or horse for 15km. Ms. Amarjargal will serve you hot tea and lunch, afterwards you have an opportunity to help her to collect and store fallen fire-wood from riverbeds. In the evening, you will be served dinner and hot milk tea and will have your second overnight with her family.

| Day 3 |
Prepare small goats and sheep for winter with felt coverings to keep them warm: After breakfast at Mrs. Amarjargal’s Ger you will continue your journey to Bold’s nomad family by ox cart for 5km. When you arrive at Mr. Bold’s family, you will be served a hot nomadic lunch and milk tea. Then you will participate in preparation of small goats and sheep for winter with felt coverings to keep warm them. In the evening you will be served by dinner and hot milk tea and will have your third overnight with Mr. Bold’s family.

| Day 4 |
Prepare fodder and hay for livestock with Mr. 'Big' Bold: After breakfast at Mr. Bold’s Ger, you can try to herd livestock and their milk cow. Also you have an opportunity to learn how to stitch Mongolian traditional garments, wear Mongolian costumes and take some amazing photos. In the late morning, a herder will guide you to Mr. Ganzorig’s family by horse back or ox cart for 5km. At Mr.Ganzorig’a ger, you will have hot tea and lunch. After you finished, you will have an opportunity to learn how to prepare fodder and hay for with him for the livestock. In the evening, you will be welcomed by a hot nomadic dinner and milk tea with family members before you go to sleep.

| Day 5 |
Learn how Nomads warm a winter shelter using wet dung: After your breakfast with Mr.Ganzorig’s family, you will continue your journey to Mrs. Uranchimeg’s family by ox cart for 8km. When you arrive at her family, you will be served a nomadic lunch and hot milk tea. After lunch, you have an opportunity to learn how to warm a winter nomadic shelter and fence for the livestock with family. In the evening, you will have a hot dinner and more tea with family members and enjoy your last overnight.

| Day 6 |
Departure: After your breakfast, you have an opportunity to help Mrs. Uranchimeg to boil milk and learn how to make nomadic milk tea. In the afternoon, you will be served a farewell lunch and tea. After your farewell lunch, Mrs.Uranchimeg’s son or husband will take you to Terelj river bank by ox cart or horse for 1km where you will await your bus or private vehicle hire.
