Bituun Oroi 'New Years Eve': Our local guide will receive you at last bus stop of Terelj National Park. Then you will go by ox cart and horse to his nomadic home that is 12 kilometers east along the Terelj River. Upon arrival at Mr. Bold’s family, he will serve you a hot lunch and milk tea. After lunch, you will help the family to prepare the traditional dishes, the nomadic dwelling and surroundings for festival celebrations; nomads must be at their finest during the festival. The ‘New Years Eve’ of the lunar celebration is called ‘Bituun Oroi’; the last dinner of the previous year. There must be several decorative dishes present (like turkey during ‘Thanks Giving’): the main traditional center piece of an entire sheep, and the side dishes of ‘Ul Boov’ (traditional bread biscuit), ‘Berese’ (cooked rice with butter, sugar and raisins), ‘Aaruul’ (dried curds), ‘Bislag’ (unsalted cheese), cream, etc.  After we finished preparation of all the traditional dishes and other house works, you will have big dinner of New Years Eve with family. Tsagaan Sar symbolizes wealth and prosperity of the family; according to custom, everyone must be full in order to have plenty of foods in coming Year. This evening you will overnight with Mr. Bold’s family in their warm nomadic felt dwelling.

 Day 2

Shinii Negen 'First New Day of White Moon Festival': This morning everyone rises bright and early according to tradition (which is about 6 or 7 o’clock) as there are many customs to carry out. The first, is greeting the sun: everyone watches the sunrise together. The second, is the making of the ‘first foot prints of the year’ that ensures that you will have good health and happiness in the New Year; each family has their own direction and also dependent upon what lunar calendar year one was born. After the first steps are taken, all family members re-enter their home and begin the traditional Tsagaan Sar greetings (zolgoh). The oldest of the family are seated at the northern side of the ger and the youngest members will line up to formally greet him by saying “Sar shine de saihan shinelj baina uu?” while extending their arms on top of the elders and receive kisses to both cheeks. After greeting with all members of the family, you will be served hot milk tea, steamed meat dumplings and other main dishes. This day many young neighboring families and relatives will visit the families with elders. This will continue all day and in the evening you will overnight with the family.

 Day 3
