OFFICIAL DONORS 2006-07 OF GER TO GER PROJECT
The Ger to Ger Team is ever thankful of the kind and generous support that the following donors have shown us.

Ger to Ger is a Social Benefit Project (SBP) with a Country Mission to systematically contribute towards the alleviation of poverty through the empowering frameworks of tourism. In addition to 55% herder profit sharing and the 20% sustainability fund, to ensure greater community involvement, a revolving community development account of 10% is air-marked towards rural economic development and herder/community-led health, cultural and natural resource management initiatives. Within 15 months of the projects launch, Ger to Ger routes in Arhangai, Dundgovi and Tuv provinces have generated over 70 million Tugrug in economic benefits for local communities of which over 18 million Tugrug so far have went directly to local herder families working with the project. In addition to economic development, the project is building the local human resources capacity to enable communities to develop and facilitate their own result oriented social economic initiatives in health, education and environmental fields that are in line with the Millennium Development Goals.

In January 2006, Ger to Ger Team set out with the goal of setting up a winter route with support of MacCoffee, Winds of Mongolia and a local park ranger with the herders of the region. The Ger to Ger Team successfully worked with locals and a private sector company (endeavoring to promote winter tourism) and established the Project's first winter route.
The Gorhi Terelj National Park's Ger to Ger Winter Route is now open and running. Herders of the area had gone through an intensive two day training workshop organized by the team and are now eagerly ready to be of service to those travelers looking for some winter adventure.
