Calligraphy is famed across most of the Asian Continent – from Japan, China to the middle East – Calligraphy is an ancient art and meditation method commonly reserved for society’s most educated and elite.

Mongolia’s Calligraphy is unique among its Asian counterparts – first Ancient Mongolian Script is written/read vertically, second there is a balance between consonants and vowels (c, v, c, v and so on); at no time in Mongolian Script are there a double consonant written together in sequence and third Mongolian Script makes use of an Alphabet rather that having to memorize 1000s of characters like in Chinese. Thus Mongolian Script can not be read out-loud as it is written otherwise to those who don’t know Mongol Script it wouldn’t make any audible sense; hence, how you read and speak are two different forms – like simultaneously thinking and speaking in two different dialects at the same time.

At our resident Master Instructor’s studio she will provide you an introduction of Mongolian Calligraphy followed with an opportunity for few Q&A. From this time forward, you will receive a two hour instruction by our Master Calligrapher – the basic holding techniques, strokes, hand-postures and different pressure techniques.
