Imagine desert trekking along golden sand dunes as the sun-rays bounces off the tips of the wind-blown dunes just a few hours from UB! Seas of shimmering golden specs dance off in the horizon along this pristine travel route that is guided by a local Mongolian nomad. Along your desert camel riding trip you learn about the local historical sites (i.e. ancient statues) as well as Northern Gobi Desert geography that includes smaller sand dunes than that of what located in the Southern Gobi Desert, Gobi Desert plants, Gobi Desert wildlife and of course the beautiful Shireet White Lake Oasis. During your time with desert nomads you will learn their ways and experience their lifestyle before returning to your own nomadic ger for the evenings. This is truly a remarkable camel riding trip in Mongolia that shouldn’t be overlooked… the geography is spectacular.
Day One – Trekking along the Northern Gobi Desert to an ancient human statue and small desert oasis (L, D – Overnight in Ger): You will depart from UB city to Rashaant soum (Bulgan Province) by public bus for 5 hours. As soon as you get off from the bus, the driver will meet with you at bus station and drive you for 38kms to your first nomadic family. Upon arrival at Mr. Dashpuntsag’s family, they will welcome you a nomadic lunch and tea. Afterwards, you will start your journey to the human statue and White lake by foot for 10-12 km round trip. Then you will back to herder’s family – they’ll welcome you to a dinner and stay overnight in his Ger.
Day Two – Camel riding and some trekking along the desert landscapes of Mongol Els Sand Dunes “Elsen Tasarhai” (B, L, D – Overnight in Ger): After breakfast, you will continue your journey to next herder family by foot for 11kms. Upon your arrival at Mr.Munkhbat’s family, you will be served a nomadic lunch and tea to which he will guide you across the sand dunes for 11 km by camel or horse before your dinner with the family.
Day Three – Camel or horseback riding next nomadic family to trek around Mongolia’s beautiful Shireet White Lake (B, L, D – Overnight in Ger): After breakfast you will continue your journey to next herder family by camel or horse for 9kms. When you arrive at Mr. Zagddorj’s family, his wife will serve you a nomadic lunch and tea. Then you will trek to the beautiful Shireet White Lake for 16kms round trip. In the evening time, you will have a farewell dinner with a family and play the traditional ankle bone game with family members.
Day Four – Overland travel to the Geographical Center of Mongolia and prior to Departing back to Ulaanbaatar (B): After your breakfast, a local driver will pick you up from the herder family and drive you for 38kms to the center point of Mongolia named “Uvurkhushuutyn Bulag”. In 1979, a geography professor Sharavyn Shagdar who traveled the past 60+ years through all of Mongolia’s territories, soums and provinces wrote over 40 books about the geography and history of Mongolia; and determined this point. Once you reach the heart place of Mongolia, the family will serve you with a packed lunch to which afterwards you will drive back to Rashaant Soum for 88kms; you will get on the bus to UB city at about 1600-1700.
