 MONGOLIA JEEP TOURS TO TRIPLE LAKES ITINERARY

GER to GER’s Triple Pearls of Mongolia overland packaged trip is a must! It’s one of our most scenic overland expeditions that includes a balanced approach towards travel across Mongolia in a jeep and slowing down the pace to enjoy Mongolia’s nomadic cultural activities along the way. We have combined Blue Mountain Lake trekking route with nomads with the easy going terrains of White Lake and an adventurous overland 4×4 expedition to the deepest lake in Central Asia known as Lake Khuvsgul while along the way you will visit historical sites like the Ancient Capital of the Mongol Empire – the famed Karakorum. If you desire to spend your time enjoying both leisure travel with a mixture of Mongolian nomadic communities located in mountainous regions of Mongolia surrounded by lush river valleys and around some of Mongolia’s most scenic lakes then this itinerary is for you!

Day One – Overland by rural bus and jeep/vehicle to Mr. Batdelger’s nomadic family (D – Mongolia Jeep Tour to Lakes and Camp): You will travel from UB to Tsetserleg by the public bus at 0800, along the way you will see many scenic locations from the bus as it drives by vast nomadic pastures, the Ancient Capital City of the Mongol Empire “Karakorum”, etc. Once you arrive in Tsetserleg town around at 1800, our local facilitator will arrange a local driver for you at bus stop that will take you to the first family Mr. Batdelger’s son (57km). Upon arrival his family will serve you dinner and tea before your retire for the night in your tent nearby the nomadic family.

Day Two – Trekking to the base of Sumtiin Mountain (B, L, D – Mongolia Jeep Tour to Lakes and Overnight Camping in Tent): After breakfast the family will show you how to cut Mongolian curds before you and the herders will pack up Yaks to start your trek along the beautiful Tamir Valley to the base of Sumtiin Mountain. In the early days, five famous monks planted five memorial trees at the base of Sumtiin Mountain before they left their native land, which became today’s beautiful scenery of Mountain. Along the way you will have a picnic lunch and absorb much of the local cultural site that includes ancient graves, burial sites; many Khirgesuur (piles of stones marking the burial site of an ancient warrior) and many tombstones. After 15km of trekking you will reach the camping site and Mr. Batdelger’s family will prepare and serve you a dinner before retiring to your tent for the night.

Day Three – Trekking to Mr. Battulga nomadic family (B, L, D – Mongolia Jeep Tour to Lakes and Overnight Camping in Tent):After having breakfast, you will trek for 12km to Mr. Battulga’s family – along the way you will have a picnic lunch. Upon arrival at Mr.Battulga’s Ger, the family will prepare and serve you dinner and hot tea to which you will overnight your tent nearby their ger.

Day Four – Trekking to Gangiin Bulan (B, L, D – Mongolia Jeep Tour to Lakes and Overnight Camping in Tent): After breakfast with Battulga’s family, you will have an opportunity to learn how to make the well-known Ih Tamir White Curds or nomadic cheese before you and the nomads start packing the luggage on yak cart. Today you will trek for 25km to Gangiin Bulan, where you will be outdoors camping away from families for one night. Along the way you will be served a picnic before reaching the overnight camping site where Mr. Battulga will serve you dinner and tea.

Day Five – Trekking Trip to Mr. Byambaochir nomadic family (B, L, D – Mongolia Jeep Tour to Lakes and Overnight Camping in Tent): After having a breakfast you will trek for 25km to Mr. Byambaochir’s family, from this point onwards the terrain becomes more challenging with small rivers to cross and some hills to pass over. As you trek to Byamba-Ochir’s home, you will be served a picnic lunch. Upon arrival Mr. Byambaochir and his family will serve you dinner and hot tea before retiring to your tent for the evening.

Day Six – Trekking to Blue Mountain Lake (B, L, D – Mongolia Jeep Tour to Lakes and Overnight Camping in Tent): After breakfast, you will start the trek to ‘Blue Lake’ with the nomadic guide – today you don’t need to pack the all the luggage, a day-pack is sufficient for the day as the trek will be about 26km round trip. You will be served a picnic lunch at the top of the Mountain along the edge of Blue Lake where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of this mountain lake. By evening you you return to Mr. Byambaochir’s nomadic family’s ger where they will welcome you with dinner before you overnight in your tent.

Day Seven – Trekking to Mr. Battumur’s nomadic family (B, L, D – Mongolia Jeep Tour to Lakes and Overnight Camping in Tent): After breakfast, Mr. Byambaochir and you will start packing the yak for your journey – today the terrain becomes more challenging as you have to trek over a mountain. You will served a picnic lunch as you are trekking for 27 kilometers through Jargalant Valley – upon arrival at Battumur’s family (Local people call him as Oroso), they will welcome you with a nomadic dinner before retiring to your tent for the evening.

Day Eight – Trekking to Shivertiin Mountain (B, L, D – Mongolia Jeep Tour to Lakes and Overnight Camping in Tent): After breakfast, Mr. Oroso will teach you how to make homemade ropes out of yak hair before you continue your 22km trek up Shivertiin Mountain. Once we leave Orosoo’s home there will be no families along the way to our meeting point with the vehicle – on the way you will be served with a picnic lunch and tea. Upon arrival at the outdoor campsite, Mr. Oroso will prepare and serve you with an outdoor dinner and hot tea before you overnight in your tent.

Day Nine – Short Trek to meet the rural driver nearby the base of Khujiriin Mountain and Begin Overland Travel To Khorgo dormant volcano (B, L, D – Mongolia Jeep Tour to Lakes and Overnight at tourist camp): After breakfast we will pack up all the tents and luggage and continue our trek for around 7 kilometers with the yaks to the mount of Khujiriin Mountain where the vehicle is waiting for us. You will say farewell to the herders and humble yaks and will continue your overland travel to White Lake for 185 km by rural vehicle. White Lake is an astonishingly beautiful lake – the lake is about 20 km long and 16km wide, it supports Pike and other fish as well as rare birds’ species can be found here. You will be served lunch when you arrive at tourist ger camp. Then you will start hiking for 20kms (round trip) to a volcanic crater called Khorgo that is 2100m above sea level. From the summit there is a splendid view of the whole lake region, as you continue your journey, you will also visit the famous Yellow Dog’s cave (a local legend stated that a compassionate monk kept a sick dog in this cave in order to protect it from being killed). In the evening, you will return tourist camp and be welcomed with a dinner and milk tea before retiring to your Ger.

Day Ten – Overland Drive to Galt Hot Spring (B, L, D – Mongolia Jeep Tour to Lakes and Overnight in Ger Camp): After breakfast, you will travel overland through the wooded slopes of Khangai Mountain Range and cross high mountain passes. Along the way, you will have a picnic lunch before arriving at Galt Hot Springs where you can relax in properly outfitted hot springs and overnight at the ger camp.

Day Eleven – Overland Drive to Emerald of Mongolia known as Lake Khuvsgul (B, L, D – Mongolia Jeep Tour to Lakes and Overnight in Ger Camp): Lake Khuvsgul is truly a highlight of any trip to Mongolia and today you head north to the crystal clear waters – it is the deepest lake in Central Asia, measured with a maximum depth of 262 meters. The reflections of larch forests and majestic Mountains around the lake are truly amazing; 96 rivers and streams feed into Khuvsgul Lake and the Egiin River exits from it. On the way we will pass through Murun that is the capital of Khuvsgul Province before reaching the overnight destination at the ger camp located next to Khuvsgul Lake.

Day Twelve – Trekking along the Lake (B, L, D – Mongolia Jeep Tour to Lakes and Overnight at Ger Camp): After your breakfast, you can spend it trekking around the lake’s beautiful scenery. The scenery of the area is well worth the exploration time! Possibly you can also travel by boat on the Lake on your own as camp organizes the full day and half-day boat trip. Tonight you will overnight in a ger camp next to the lake.

Day Thirteen-Fourteen – Rural Bus to back to Ulaanbaatar (B, L – Mongolia Jeep Tour to Lakes): After breakfast at camp, you can make short walk along the Khuvsgul Lake and enjoy the beauty before head back to city. After lunch, you will return to Murun where you will board the public bus at 15pm or 18pm to Ulaanbaatar. Before you depart to Ulaanbaatar, you can do shopping for your snacks and drinks in Murun before wishing your driver and guide farewell.
