GER to GER Mongolia offers an array of horseback riding tours, trips where you can combine horseback riding with trekking and nomadic home stays and expeditions where you can ride horses throughout Mongolia vast geographical terrain. This particular horse riding trip will take you through the Gorkhi Terelj National Park – it has been perfectly designed for those that do not have all the time in the world but still wish for a remarkable, cost and time effective, horseback riding adventure! With less overland travel you will be spending more qualitative time with nomadic families (overnight in their extra ger!) and horseback riding towards the ever impressive Chinggis Statue via Terelj National Park.
Day One – Horseback Riding Trip to (ox cart) Mongolia’s Khan Hentii Terelj National Park to Visit a Mongolian Nomadic Family (Overnight in extra Mongolian Ger – Nomadic Home Stay): In the morning at 11am, you will take the public bus to the Terelj national park. Our local guide will receive you at last bus stop of Terelj Protected Area. Then we will go by ox cart to his home where 1 kilometer north of Terelj River. You will be welcome to a hot nomadic lunch and tea. After your lunch, Mrs. Urnaa will help you to learn and practice how to make dried curds. Soon afterwards, you start your 18km journey to the overnight family with a local guide by horse or ox cart. Upon arrival at Ms. Amarjargal’s family, they will begin preparation for your evening nomadic dinner and tea, after dinner her family will teach you how they play traditional Mongolian ankle bone games; called Shagai.
Day Two – Learn Aspects of Daily Mongolian Nomadic Lifestyle before Horseback Riding Trip to Next Mongolian Nomadic Family (Overnight in extra Mongolian Ger – Nomadic Home Stay): After breakfast, Ms. Amarjargal will show you how to tie a bridle and make patterns for national dress; she is really talented at sewing. Shortly afterwards, you will continue your travel to next family with local guide for about 9 km. Upon arrival at Mr. Bold’s family, you will be welcomed to a hot nomadic lunch and tea. His wife will show you the methods of tethering animals and how to make buttons by cotton and/or silk for national Mongolia garments to which you will have your evening nomadic dinner and tea.
Day Three – Learn the Ancient Art of Mongolian Archery and Horseback Riding Trip to Chinggis Khan’s Statue (Overnight in extra Ger Camp): In the early morning you will have an opportunity to milk a cow with his wife before having your nomadic breakfast. While you are staying at his home you will have an opportunity to practice archery with him before the farewell nomadic lunch at his home. In the early afternoon you will continue your journey by horseback for 27km to the Chinggis Statue. Upon arrival at camp, you will have your dinner and stay overnight in a Ger.
Day Four – Trek to Mongolia’s Chinggis Khan Statue Monument before Departing back to Ulaanbaatar (B, L): After breakfast, you will make trekking excursion to the Chinggis Statue Complex and take great shots to which you will return to the camp for lunch before driving back to Ulaanbaatar city.
