Ulaanbaatar City Tours – Legendary Art of Mongolian Archery

This Ulaanbaatar City Tour is aimed at learning Archery with a State Recognized Mongolian Archer who competes in the Naadam Festival

From ancient times – the bow and arrow has been significant in Mongol history… Most notably has been the historical legend of “Alangoo” who taught the young Temuujin who later became the Great Chingis Khan an invaluable lesson – “One Arrow can be easily broken, HOWEVER, Five arrows together are unbreakable”. It was from this incredible wisdom that guided Temuujin’s endeavors to unite the Mongol Tribes. Today, as the old saying goes “when in Rome do as the Romans do…”, well this is your chance to grab a bow and arrows and truly comprehend the power of “Alangoo’s Legend” which gave birth to the largest empire known to human history spanning some 24 million cubic kilometers of ‘volume’ from the Sea of Japan to the doorstep of today’s Europe.

From 1300 till 1530 you will be instructed by our Ulaanbaatar City based Master Archer himself – you will start by learning the process of how Mongolian bows and arrows are constructed. After which, if the weather is good, you and the archer will go outside to a nearby botanical-garden (it’s where the Ulaanbaatar city grows its trees for the city) where you will be instructed by a Master Archer.
